The awarding ceremony was held during the SENIA 10 conference held at the Grand Four Wings Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand on February 17, 2012. As an awardee, Andrea was given a chance to address more than 200 conference attendees from all over Asia. During her address, Andrea shared her dream for more schools to support students with learning disabilities. She hopes that students like her may be better understood and supported in order for them to succeed. This quote from her acceptance speech makes her sentiments known: “Why limit the questions of a student, when curiosity leads to understanding?” Andrea also shared the gospel song “Still” by Hillsong and expressed that: “It is a song I find comfort in when days get difficult and I feel alone”. Andrea is an example that living with a learning disability may be difficult but it is not a hindrance to success.
