SENIA Manila held its first annual conference on January 28, 2012 at Brent International School Manila. The conference featured a series of collaboration workshops designed for the support staff in the international schools around Manila.
The event was attended by over sixty professionals from four schools: The Beacon School, Brent International School Manila, British School of Manila, and International School of Manila.
It was an opportunity for many of the talented professionals, including teachers and assistant teachers, in the area to get together and share common work experiences and to learn from one another. There were several workshops to choose from, including Remediation of Dyslexia, Visualization and Verbalization, Strategies for the Differentiated Classroom, Moderation of Support, Social Thinking Skills, and Discussion of Implementation Strengths and Weaknesses.
Feedback from the event was positive, with the most frequent comment being participants would like to see the time extended so that more workshops could be offered. Attendees overwhelmingly would like to see another professional development event like this again next year.
